Why is my v0 app not converting?
Almost always because of one screen. People arrive, most of them reach a particular screen, and a large share of them stop there. It is rarely the whole app and rarely your idea. It is one screen that asks for something too early, refuses people for a rule nobody told them about, or is a dead end. With an app built in v0 that screen is harder to spot than usual, because you did not write it by hand and do not carry a map of what is in there. You can find it in an afternoon with the visitor numbers you already have, and once you know the screen, the fix is one sentence pasted back into v0.
Why is it usually one screen?
Because the people who leave are not leaving your app. They are leaving a screen. Somebody who reached your sign-up form wanted what was behind it, and something about that form changed their mind. The number that matters is not how many people visited, it is how many reached each screen and how many reached the next one.
In an app built with v0 the leaking screen is harder to see than in one you typed yourself. You described what you wanted and the screens appeared. You never held every field, every rule and every button in your head, so when one of them turns people away, nothing in your memory points at it.
What does the screen usually do wrong?
Four things, and each leaves a different trace in your numbers.
It asks too early. A phone number, a company name or a card before the person has seen anything worth giving it for. Generated sign-up forms do this constantly, because the tool was asked for a sign-up form and gave you a thorough one.
It refuses without saying so. A password rule, an email domain the code rejects, a required field with no mark on it. The person tries twice and leaves. The rule is in your code, and nobody has counted it against the people it turned away.
It is a dead end. A screen with nothing to press that moves the person on, or an error state with no way back. Nobody designs these. They accumulate as you keep prompting.
They never found it. The screen that would have convinced them exists, and nothing links to it. This one is invisible to any visitor counter, because a screen nobody visited leaves nothing to count.
How do I find the screen in my v0 app?
Four steps, about an afternoon, no code reading required.
- 1Get a visitor counter running if you do not have one. Paste into v0: "Add PostHog to this app with autocapture on, using the project key I give you next." It is free and takes a minute.
- 2Wait a week, or until a few hundred people have been through. Below about sixty people a percentage means little, so count individuals until then.
- 3List the screens people pass through in order, and beside each one write how many people reached it. The largest fall between one screen and the next is where people give up.
- 4Open that screen in v0 and read it as a stranger would. What does it ask for? What is required? What happens when you get something wrong? What can you press to leave?
What is the fix, and how do I ship it?
One sentence, pasted into v0, describing the smallest change that removes the thing you found. Make the phone number optional. Move the company name to after sign-up. Show the password rule before somebody fails it. Add a button that leads somewhere.
Then change nothing else for a week and watch the same number. A fall is not automatically a fault: a screen that loses people may be quietly turning away the uninterested, and removing it can flood the next screen with people who leave a minute later. Keep the change if the number moved, and put it back if it did not.
Can something do this for me?
Yes, and this is what userdrift is. You paste the link to the GitHub project v0 syncs your project to GitHub to, connect the visitor numbers you already have, and it tells you which screen is costing you the most people, why that screen might be doing it, and the fix as a sentence ready to paste into v0. Every time you ship, it reads the app again and tells you whether fewer people stop there now. Nothing to install, and no dashboard to learn.
Built with something else? Lovable, Bolt, Replit, Cursor or Claude Code.
The tool this describes
userdrift tells you which screen is losing you the most users, why, and gives you the fix to paste into Lovable, Bolt, v0 or Cursor. Paste the link to your app and the first answer arrives in about a minute. Nothing to install, and nothing in your app changes until you say so.
